You should be familiar with the editing markup before making any changes to an existing document. Practice editing in the Sandbox before editing any live content.

New transcriptions
The procedure for adding new tabs is to first go to the index page for the type of tab it is, for example, Unreleased (Phish) or Covers (Phish). If a link does not exist, edit the page to include one alphabetically. Once added, click on the new link to edit the page. New pages also need to be placed in the correct category or categories by inserting tags near the top of the article. A cover would need [[Category: Covers]] inserted. For an example of this, look at the source of an existing page.
Because registration is required to contribute to any article, please refrain from putting "transcribed by" or writing your name in the article. All changes are attributed to your account automatically, and can be viewed by clicking on the my contributions link in the upper right hand corner of any page.
Any relevant discussion - questions, comments, criticisms - should go on the discussion page associated with the transcription you wish to discuss. Browse to the article you wish to discuss, click on the discussion tab along the top of the screen, and click the + tab to add a new comment. General discussion can go on the discussion tab for the Main_Page.
Revisions to existing articles
The goal of this site is to have one article or transcription for each song, representing the most accurate information possible. In some cases, it is appropriate to have more than one interpretation, but for the most part, if you see a mistake, correct it. If a transcription is entirely in a key that the song is rarely played in, correct the entire article. Again, let's try to keep our articles efficient, rather than a mess of appended edits that a user will have to sort through to get the gist.
Incorrect revisions and dealing with vandalism
Each page has a 'history' tab which tracks the evolution of the document through all the changes applied by various people. If something is obviously wrong with the current version, the rollback feature will turn back time. Nothing gets overwritten when any file is changed, at any moment you can restore a prior version with a few clicks, especially if a new version is inaccurate or vandalized. For example, go back to the first version of this exact page, and you can use the 'next' and 'previous' links to watch the evolution of this page.
Use of your signature
While everyone wants to receive credit for their help, signatures are not appropriate within the body of an article whenever you make an edit. If everyone signed their changes, the site would be flooded with signatures. Your signature is for use on Talk pages only! If you submit an entire article, it is appropriate to put your name once near the top, along with an email link or userpage link, if you wish.
